Scripture: Mark 1:9-15

Illustration: “"A new world order is in the making, and it is up to us to prepare ourselves that we may take our rightful place in it." - el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz [aka Malcolm X]

Meditation: Malcolm X gave his life for the cause of Black Liberation. To make a new world order where Black Folx could take their rightful place as free people. Free politically, economically and socially. A lesson that our ancestor Malcolm taught us is that freedom and power must be demanded and taken because it is never freely given by the oppressor or the privileged. This new world order, as we meditate on his words, requires a militant movement of minds and bodies. Just like the Holy Spirit forcefully tore open the heavens of the old order to anoint Jesus with the power to make a new world/order called the rule of God. May we be those that take our rightful place in this old world/order as Spirit-intoxicated prophets and liberators to take our new world.

Reflection:

1. How might it look for your tribe to organize, mobilize, and build up Black political power, to take our new world, in the streets of your neighborhood and city?

2. What will you need to give up in order to surrender to the taking of this new world? Your apathy? Your fear? Your silence? Your lack of knowledge? Your own internalization of White Supremacy? Your trepidation to fully love your Black self and community? What?

3. What needs to be ‘torn open’ and what needs to ‘descend like a dove’ in your community?
